The first book of The Dark Lord’s Handbook series shattered normal conventions of what constitutes heroes, villains, monsters, and damsels in distress. This book expounds on that theme in a fun and exciting way. New characters are introduced while old favorites make their return. Morden Deathwing’s world is fleshed out further in this novel. Conquest had many twists in it and a shocking ending, which made it something you’d want to keep reading from dusk until dawn. This book is for anyone who likes GoT, LotR, The Elder Scrolls, or Dragon Age.
Seldom have I read a fantasy series that has such humor, interesting characters and set a good pace as the Dark Lord. He’s evil enough but personable as well, and there are some good guys I really liked too. I’d like to see the female characters a bit more well rounded. It’s a interesting and different look at bad guys as well and I have to admit I liked a few of the bad guys more than the heroes. I recommend reading the entire series.
I loved it. Great follow up to the first novel. Humorous, witty, gritty, naughty, and a literary trove of words I had to occasionally look up. The story is colorful, imaginative, and compelling. A page turner. I read it while taking breaks from end of semester grading. Great motivation to keep grading.
